We’re thrilled to share that the 2024 Health & Wellness Fair, organized by the Diego Martin West Lions Club in collaboration with J&C Re-creation Centre Ltd, was a resounding success! Held at the Petit Valley Community Centre, the fair attracted over 95 enthusiastic participants eager to access a wide range of health services provided by the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA).
A Day of Learning and Health
The event featured an impressive lineup of activities and services that catered to various aspects of health and wellness. Here are some of the highlights:
- Educational Lectures: Attendees had the opportunity to attend insightful sessions covering essential topics like Physical Health Checks, Mental Wellness, and the important issue of Elder Abuse. These discussions aimed to empower participants with knowledge for healthier living.
- Health Screenings: Free screenings were available for crucial health indicators, including HIV, vision, hearing, and dental health. These services helped participants gain a clearer picture of their overall health status.
- Demonstrations: Fitness enthusiasts enjoyed engaging demonstrations of Tai Chi, Physical Fitness routines, and Yoga, encouraging attendees to explore new ways to stay active and centered.
- Pop-up Shops: Local vendors showcased their goods, including delicious Earth Oven breads, gently used clothing, and unique products centered around Pigeon Peas. It was a great opportunity to support local businesses while finding some treasures!
- Medical Checks and Counseling: Our dedicated healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, and doctors, provided medical checks and personalized counseling, ensuring everyone had access to expert advice.
